For Student Safety

Presently, Homewood HS track athletes have to car pool to practice, at the track off West Oxmoor. Track practice varies according to event and doesn’t lend itself to carpooling. It’s a very real safety issue for kids having to drive themselves to West Oxmoor and a waste of time fighting traffic to get there and get home.

For Athletic Potential

Homewood track athletes and the Homewood track programs will never reach their potentials unless there is a track the kids can walk to from the High School to get to practice. Since 2002, 22 Mountain Brook girls have gone on to run track in college, while, only 3 Homewood girls have.

Indoor Track is Coming!

The City of Birmingham is building a new indoor track facility which will be one of the best in the nation. The track surface itself will be a "best in the world" 200 meter hydraulic Mondo track. High School Track, both Indoor Track and Outdoor Track are going to be elevated in Birmingham and all across the State of Alabama because of this new indoor facility. With the addition of indoor track, the track season and the training for track is going to become much longer.

Too Good to Pass Up

The economy is presently not in the best of shape. But this opportunity is just too good to pass up.
